A Beginner Guide to Programming: Five Mistakes You Should Avoid

Isaiah Ozadhe Saturday, August 1, 2020 Article

Welcome to Emmason247, today I am going to write about five things you should not do as a beginner when you delve into programming.
Table of contents
1.Coding from day 1 2.Working without a Mentor 3.Running after the Crowd. 4.Giving up too early. 5.Doing too many things at once. 1. Coding From Day 1.
no coding at first
Sometimes as a Newbie when you see others writing code, you feel like just picking up the computer and start coding. But don't that is wrong, very Wrong!!!!!!. There are some prerequisites you have to first learn before you delve into the coding world. Put together a tutorial for that, When you are done with this one, Just browse through to find it. 2. Working without a Mentor. True, some people are quick learners naturally and can teach themselves easily. But as a beginner, it is no advisable at all. There should be a mentor that you can approach and talk things out with when it is becoming tough. When I say a Mentor, it is not just a real life person but someone even online that you can ask questions. Examples are all of the tutors here on Emmason247. If you are following any of the tutorials and you are having issues, just use the comment box to communicate with the tutor. 3. Running after the Crowd. When you first come into programming, you'll meet different people and also hear different things. You'll hear people say things that downgrades the language you are learning, they might even suggest you switch to their own language or the latest language in town. Don't give a thought to that at all. Just focus on what you are doing, be good at it and everything will just fall into place. 4. Giving up too early. It is a fact that more than half of the people who go into learning programming give up half way. Don't let that happen to you. Before you go into programming you have to know that it will not be all smiles all days. There will be days when everything fall into place - every single code you write works very fine - but there will be days when nothing seems to work at all and you'll have more days like this as a young programmer When it happens just close the laptop's lid, take a break, do something fun before going back again. If it happens again, do it all over again. Never Ever Give Up. 5. Doing too many things at once. You are learning Python, Ruby, Java, HTML, CSS, Jquery all at the same time. Shuuuu, what is it?, Na only you de?. My point is go one at a time. Take your first language very seriously, focus on it because it will define how well you program in any other language - or so I think. When you are done, you can go to the next one. Take it one at a time. Click Here To Read My Article On Picking The Perfect Programming Language as a Beginner. I remain Isaiah Ozadhe and I write regularly on Emmason247.
