In this post, am going to share with you some of the visual studio shortcuts you can use when working with the environment.

Visual Studio Keyboard Shortcuts

1. Ctrl + Shift + B = Build your project. 2. Ctrl + Alt + L = Shows Solution Explorer. 3. Shift + Alt + C = Add new class. 4. Shift + Alt + A = Add new item to project.

Navigation Related Keyboard Shortcuts

5. Ctrl + Up/Down = Scrolls the window without moving the cursor. 6. Ctrl + – = Take cursor to its previous location. 7. Ctrl + + = Take cursor to its next location. 8. F12 = Go to definition.

Debugging Related Keyboard Shortcuts

9. Ctrl + Alt + P = Attach to process. 10. F10 = Debug step over. 11. F5 = Start debugging. Shift + F5 = Stop debugging. 12. Ctrl + Alt + Q = Add quick watch. 13. F9 = Set or remove a breakpoint.

14. Ctrl + Enter = Insert blank line above the current line. 15. Ctrl + Shift + Enter = Insert blank line below the current line. 16. Ctrl + Space = Autocomplete using IntelliSense. 17. Alt +Shift +arrow keys(?,?,?,?) = Select custom part of the code. 18. Ctrl + } = Match curly braces, brackets. 19. Ctrl + Shift + } = Select text between matched braces, brackets. 20. Ctrl + Shift + S = Saves all files and projects. 21. Ctrl + K, Ctrl + C = Comments the selected lines. 22. Ctrl + K, Ctrl + U = Uncomments the selected lines. 23. Ctrl + K, Ctrl + D = Do proper alignment of all the code. 24. Shift + End = Select the entire line from start to end. 25. Shift + Home = Select the entire line from end to start. 26. Ctrl + Delete = Deletes the word to the right of the cursor.

27. Ctrl + K Ctrl + K = Bookmark the current line. 28 Ctrl + K Ctrl + N = Navigates to next bookmark. 29. Ctrl + . = If you type in a class name like Collection and do not have the proper namespace import then this shortcut combination will automatically insert the import. 30. Ctrl + Shift + F = Find in Files. 31. Shift + F12 = Find all references. 32. Ctrl + F = Displays the Find Dialog. 33. Ctrl + H = Displays the Replace Dialog 34. Ctrl + G = Jumps to the line number or go to the line. 35. Ctrl + Shift + F = Find the references of the selected item in the entire solution.
