You see my friend, writing an article or a blog post isn't in any way hard at all. Even a teenager can do that.
But writing a good blog post or article? Now that's a whole new challenge entirely. Here are a few tips that can help you as you as you begin your writing journey on the web:
Is it very fun when you are doing your chores?. I guess not.
Blogging can be like that if you are not passionate about what you are doing. That is why you should only pick and write on a topic that you are very much interested in.
Don't just write because you believe it will fetch you traffic or it is what others are writing on.
What is that thing that you so much love? Is it sports? Programming? Fashion?. A topic that you are always following and you know so much about.
That is what you should be writing about.
Now you have to forget virtually everything that your teachers and lecturers taught you about writing.
Why? Because the audience is now different. You are not writting a quiz or an examination here, your goal is to write in a manner that will keep your readers attention.
In the web, peoples attention span is very short - many people just skip.
If you have to catche their attention, then you should write in a conversational manner. Talk to your audience not at them.
It is a basic fact that you cannot give what you do not have. Before you write an article or a blog post on any topic at all make sure you are well versed in it.
You should write down what you are writing about, how you are going to start, what points you intend to make clear and how you are going to wrap all your ideas around the listed points.
Maybe you are one of those people who can do things without planning but I have to tell you this - it is not very effective with blogging.
I know you don't have all the time in the world to waste. That is why you need to plan.
Do a research on other popular blogs on your niche and monitor the trending topics. You can find them by googling and making a list.
Once in a while, look up your list and visit those blogs. Look out for posts that have really high user engagements - I mean many likes, shares and comments - and make a list of them.
In the future, you can use these topics to write new articles that your audience will like.
Look at it this way:
If a house is dirty on the outside, would you love to go in? Certainty not. That is even without trying to find out if there is something good in there.
It's the same with your blog posts. No matter how helpful, interesting or educative you article is, no one will read it unless your title can convince your user that "yes there is something in there for me".
Let's say you are writing an article on "blogging tips". From an SEO and online writing perspective, it is required that the key word " blogging" must appear in your title. Also make sure that you use the keyword very early in your title.
You should also make sure that all the other words in your title aside the keyword must be enticing enough to get the user to click.
Precision is another important thing in your title. Instead of saying "amazing blogging tips you should use", say something like "10 amazing blogging tips you should use".
That's precise right? The user knows exactly what to expect - 10 tips. That might convince them to click.
This part is very important because I already mentioned that people's attention span on the web is very short.
If within the first few lines in your article, you cannot hook your readers then you have lost them.
It is also helpful that you make sure to use your keyword as quickly as possible in the content of your post. That will help search engines like google locate your article when there is a search related to it.

Look at first sentence, I managed to let you know that I have been giving tips on other topics by using the word "today". That will make you be like " yea, I think this guy knows what he is doing".
I went further to let you know that writing online is different from essays and other forms of writing. That will make you be like "how's it any different" and you keep reading to find out.
Then I assured you that body can write - even teenagers. I Went on to tell you that not everybody can write a good blog post.
