As of December 2018, GLO had over 45 million subscribers, making it the second-largest network operator in Nigeria. It introduced lower tariffs and other value-added services. In 2011, GLO became the first telecommunication company to build an $800 million high-capacity fibre-optic cable known as Glo-1, a submarine cable from the United Kingdom to Nigeria. Airtel Africa is a leading provider of telecommunications and mobile money services, with a presence in 14 countries in Africa, primarily in East Africa and Central and West Africa. It has gone through several rebranding regimes from Econet to Vmobile, Zain, Celtel, then Airtel. As of March 2019, Airtel had over 99 million subscribers in the continent. It is listed on the London Stock Exchange and is a constituent of the FTSE 250 Index. Etisalat Nigeria launched in 2008 as one of the first major broadband services in the country. The company is known for its innovative products and services such as the Eco Sim and being the first network to offer special numbers to Nigerians as their mobile numbers via the 0809uchoose campaign. In 2013, Etisalat Nigeria signed a $1.2 billion medium-term facility with 13 Nigerian banks, which it used to refinance an existing $650 million loan and fund modernisation of its network. The banks that were involved in the loan deal include Zenith Bank, GT Bank, First Bank, UBA, Fidelity Bank, Access Bank, Ecobank, FCMB, Stanbic IBTC Bank and Union Bank. However, Etisalat struggled to repay the loan. While the banks pushed forward to acquire Etisalat, the NCC intervened and waded into the troubling water.The intervention by NCC led to Etisalat withdrawal from the market after its debt was not repaid or rescheduled. The local operator then renamed itself 9mobile in July 2017

How to Transfer your Airtime from one Network to Another Network

  • Dial *931#
  • Reply with number 6 to change your default pin (usually 0000) to any four digit PIN of your choice
  • After you have successfully changed your pin, now redial *931# and then select number 3 for Airtime Swap
  • input the beneficiary number (which is the number you are sending the Airtime to)
  • Select the amount you want to transfer
  • enter your PIN (the new pin you replaced from default)
  • The Airtime has been successfully transferred

How to Transfer GLO Call credit or Airtime to Family and Friends

To Transfer Glo Credit, simply dial *131*Phone Number of the recipient*Amount to be transferred*Password#. For example, if your password is 12345 and you want to transfer N75 to a customer with Phone Number 08055570452, then you dial *131*08055570452*75*12345#. You will receive notification via text message once the transfer is completed. Default password is 00000.

How to Transfer Credit from 9mobile/Etisalat

To transfer credit on 9mobile/Etisalat simply dial *223*PIN*Amount*Phone Number#. And this must be dialed on the line from which you’re transferring the airtime. For example, you want to send “N500” airtime. to 08091234580 Then dial * 223 * PIN code * 500 * Phone Number # and press “send.” *223*“6333 *500*08091234580#

What Are The Requirements for Airtime Credit Transfer?

  • You can only transfer in Naira amounts and not in kobo, i.e. you can transfer NGN71.00 but not NGN71.99
  • You can transfer between NGN50.00 and NGN5,000.00 in a single transaction
  • You can transfer up to NGN100,000.00 from your phone to either a single or multiple MTN accounts every day
  • There is no limit to the maximum number of transactions per day
  • If your MTN prepaid account does not have enough airtime to cover the amount you have requested to transfer, the transaction will not be completed and you will receive an error message
  • If you are a postpaid customer, you will only be able to transfer airtime when your account is in positive. You will not be able to transfer airtime when your account is negative (-). For example, if your account balance is N-300.00. You will not be able to use MTN Share. On the other hand, if your account balance is N1,000.00 you will be able to transfer airtime up to the available N1,000.00 in your account
