Power holding companies may also be involved in the development of renewable energy sources and other sustainability initiatives. Egbin Power Plc: Egbin Power Plc is the largest power generating company in Nigeria, located in Lagos. It has a total installed capacity of 1,320 MW and consists of six power plants with a combined 2,700 MW capacity. It was privatized in 2013 and acquired by the Sahara Group, and it is one of the most reliable power plants in Nigeria, supplying electricity to over 15 million homes. 2. Kainji Hydro Power Plc: Kainji Hydro Power Plc is also one of the largest power generating companies located in Niger State. It is a hydroelectric power plant with a capacity of 760 MW. The plant was commissioned in 1968 and was privatized and acquired by Mainstream Energy Solutions Limited in 2013. 3. Shiroro Hydro Power Plc: Shiroro Hydro Power Plc is a hydroelectric power plant located in Niger State. It has an installed capacity of 600 MW and was commissioned in 1990. The plant was privatized and acquired by North-South Power Company Limited in 2013. 4. Jebba Hydro Power Plc: Jebba Hydro Power Plc is another hydroelectric power plant in Nigeria. It is located in Niger State and has an installed capacity of 540 MW. The plant was commissioned in 1985 and was privatized and acquired by Mainstream Energy Solutions Limited in 2013. 5. Geregu Power Plc: Geregu Power Plc is a thermal power plant located in Kogi State. It has an installed capacity of 414 MW and consists of three gas turbines. The plant was commissioned in 2007 and was privatized and acquired by Amperion Power Distribution Company Limited in 2013. 6. Omotosho Electric Power Plc: Omotosho Electric Power Plc is a thermal power plant located in Ondo State. It has an installed capacity of 335 MW and consists of three gas turbines. The plant was commissioned in 2005 and was privatized and acquired by Omotosho Electric Power Limited in 2013. 7. Olorunsogo Power Plc: Olorunsogo Power Plc is a thermal power plant located in Ogun State. It has an installed capacity of 336 MW and consists of four gas turbines. The plant was commissioned in 2007 and was privatized and acquired by SEPCO-Pacific Energy Consortium in 2013. 8. Afam Power Plc: Afam Power Plc is a thermal power plant located in Rivers State. It has an installed capacity of 925 MW and consists of four gas turbines. The plant was commissioned in 1962 and was privatized and acquired by Taleveras Group in 2013. 9. Sapele Power Plc: Sapele Power Plc is a thermal power plant located in Delta State. It has an installed capacity of 1020 MW and consists of six gas turbines. The plant was commissioned in 1978 and was privatized and acquired by Eurafric Energy Limited in 2013. 10. Transcorp Power Plc: Transcorp Power Plc is a thermal power plant located in Rivers State. It has an installed capacity of 1150 MW and consists of four gas turbines. The plant was commissioned in 2005 and was privatized and acquired by Transcorp Power Limited in 2013.
