TIME SERIES ANALYSIS OF ROAD ACCIDENTS IN DELTA STATE FROM 2010-2014 (A CASE STUDY OF UGHELLI/WARRI HIGHWAY)

This research works examines the trend of read accidents along Ughelli/Warri road for the period of 5 years (2010-2014). Its aim is to know whether there was an increasing or a decreasing trend. The main work of this project is in chapter three and four which clearly and concisely explains and forecast road accidents and how to use one of the methods outlined in chapter 3 to forecast road traffic. In chapter 4, the data collected were presented in quarters from (2010-2014). Thereafter the quarters were computed to trend values using moving average for number of road accidents. The least square method was also used for the computation of the trend line using multiplicative model in the forecasted values. It was observed that road traffic accidents are on high values of seasonal indices. Recommendations were then made on how to reduce road accidents in Nigeria roads.
