THE EFFECT OF SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY ON THE HOST COMMUNITY(A CASE STUDY OF SOME SELECTED INDUSTRIES IN WARRI)
ABSTRACT/DESCRIPTION
This study intends to serve as a guide and reference to managers in considering the various publics while making decisions. It will also serve as reference literature for future researchers on related areas. Some selected industries in Warri encounter some of the problems below while trying to be socially responsible on their community. Inadequate personnel is seen as a person within an organisation who is concern with the welfare of the people working in industry and a community at large, knowing what the community demands from them in trying to be socially responsible. The researcher used a survey method of analysis to get the data. The research after collecting the data, tabulated them, analysed them, interpreted them and then sued a structural data instrument, data collected were analysed by the use of simple percentage analysis and presented in table. This study has examined the effect of social responsibility on the host community of some selected industries in Warri. The researchers through the gathering and analysis of data, draws out. Social responsibility prolongs the life span of business organisations and equally creates a favour public image. Social responsibility which normally cost much money leads to long-run profitability. After going through the research work, the researcher hereby recommend as follows; Business organisations should endeavour to provide more social amenities to their immediate environment such as building houses that will not cost them much, creating job opportunities and providing good roads etc. They should abide by the laws, rules and regulation of the land and also pay their taxes regularly to the government.
