THE EFFECT OF HEAVY METALS IN BOREHOLE AND WELL WATER

ABSTRACT/DESCRIPTION


The heavy metals parameters of water samples collected from various sites in Ogume were accessed using standard. The result obtained range from 0.02-0.01mg/L for Arsenic content, for lead range from 0.00-0.01mg/L for Chromium range from 0.01-0.02mg/L from Nickel rane from 0.00-0.02mg/L and 0.01-0.02 for Magnesium content when compared with standard prescribed by WHO and NAFDAC it was found out that Arsenic, Lead, Chromium, Nickel, Copper,Zinc and Magnesium where below permissible limit of 250mg/L, 75-150mg/L, 150mg/L respectively. It was found out that water sample collected from Ogume was fit for use. All sampling sites collected shows that the element parameters where below the recommended limit.
