CONSTRUCTION OF AN AUTOMATIC LIGHT (SMART LIGHT)

ABSTRACT/DESCRIPTION

Smart lighting is a lighting technology designed for energy efficiency, convenience and security. This may include high efficiency fixtures and automated controls that make adjustments based on conditions such as occupancy or daylight availability. Smart lighting enables households and users to remotely control cooling, heating, lighting and appliances. Smart lighting system has a direct impact on energy saving, users comfort, health and safety. In smart lighting the more precise the system control is, the higher the life-cycle cost will be. However, the performance may not increase proportionally with the cost for instance, the close-loop lighting controller does not contribute to visual performance optimally and the energy saving it achieves is less than that achieved by the open-loop controller. Lighting is the deliberate application of light to achieve some aesthetic or practical effect. It include task lighting, accent lighting and general lighting. Smart lighting comprises of various types which are smart light bulbs, smart lights connected with hub and motion sensing light. Light applications represents 19% of the world’s energy use and 6% of all greenhouse emissions. A smart lighting system can ensure that dark areas are illuminated when in use. The light actively respond to the activities of the occupants based on sensors and intelligence (logic) that anticipates the lighting needs of an occupant. There are some various units of automatic light (smart light) which include power supply unit, sensor unit, comparator unit and output unit. The initial investment cost to install smart lights for homes or offices is high. It is therefore recommended that this circuit construction should be incorporated into any automated switch that warrants the use of light energy variance for operation at all spheres of scientific engineering, designs and manufacturing industries. And also to minimize light energy wastage by conserving it’s turn on and turn off timing during operations.
