POTASSIUM TOXICITY

ABSTRACT/DESCRIPTION

Potassium is a mineral found in the food we are. Its also an electrolyte. Electrolytes conduct electrical impulses throughout the body. They assist in a range of essential body functions including: blood pressure, normal water balance, muscle contraction, nerve impulses, digestion, least rhythm e.t.c boiling dramatically reduce potassium levels of most foods by 50-75%, the best sources of potassium is fresh foods of all types especially certain fruits and vegetable include: mushrooms, Fish, Fresh meal, Fruit. Potassium is the second least dense metal after lithium. It is a soft solid with a low meeting points, and can be easily cut with a knife. It can react with oxygen, water and carbon dioxide components in air with oxygen it forms potassium peroxide. With water potassium forms potassium hydroxide, there are some certain conditions that can, potassium deficiencies include: kidney disease, over use of diuretics, magnesium deficiencies e.t.c. However severe deficiencies can be life-threatening, signs are extreme, fatigue muscle spasms, weakness or cropping, irregular health. Over use of potassium suppliants or consuming energy fitness drinks when a person becomes dehydrated can also lead to potassium toxicity. Causes of high potassium are abnormal breakdown of body proteins, adrenal gland failure, muscle breakdown, severe infection. Maintaining adequate levels of potassium is a strong oxidizes, used to improve dough strength and rise high. Potassium from foods should prevent many of the adverse effects of inadequate potassium intake, we should try as much as possible to avoid over consumption of foods that contain potassium , we should eat dietary potassium food to metabolize carbohydrates and synthesis proteins, building muscles and allowing them to contact maintain stable acid base balance
