THE ROLE OF CO-OPERATIVE SOCIETY IN NATIONAL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT(A STUDY OF SELECTED AREA IN ETHIOPE WEST LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF DELTA STATE)

This research work emphasize basically on the role of co-operative societies in the rural development, using Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State as case study. The researcher conducted this research in order to determine whether co-operate plays a positive role of the development of rural areas co-operative societies has contributed widely to the society by improving the standard of living through employment generation provision of utilities, granting of credit facilities to members engage in portfolio management, education and training of personnel, provision of housing facilities etc for the researcher to arrive at this points he gathered information and also collect relevant data using the principal method of questionnaire in chapter four, the researcher tested the hypothesis which state that there is significant relationship between the role of co-operatives societies and the rural development, form the generated data of members of Ethiope West Local Government Council. In chapter five, the researcher summarized and made recommendation based on the finding of the study.
