STUDIES ON THE EFFECT OF GARLIC AND HONEY ON SOME UPPER RESPIRATORY TRACT INFECTIONS
ABSTRACT/DESCRIPTION
The major purpose of this study is to know the effect of garlic and honey on some upper respiratory tract infections. Respiratory tract us the part of the human system that plays a vital role in breathing processes. In human, the respiratory system can be subdivided into upper respiratory tract and lower respiratory tract based on anatomical features. The design of this study is to identify bacteria causing respiratory tract infections, during the course of this study. Some of the bacteria encountered are: Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus species, Proteus mirabilis and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. At the end of this study it was concluded that honey and garlic has great effect and are highly recommended in treating respiratory tract infections because they are readily available, easily prepared and with little or no adverse environmental effect. They have health benefit with no side effect and can be use to control respiratory tract infections this will provide the much needed economic benefits.
