ABSTRACT/DESCRIPTION


This research work was carried out in order to statistically analysed the performance of students in English Language Examination in SSCE for year 2010 – 2013 in Isoko South Local Government Area, Delta State. To this end, a number of School were selected for the purpose of the study which are: Emede Grammar School, Olomoro Comprehensive High School, Irri Grammar School, St. Michael College, Emiye Girls Grammar School, Emede Grammar School, Aviara Secondary Commercial School. The major instrument used for collecting data was primary data, collected by personal interview between the investigator (Interviewer) and the respondents (Interviewee) method. The data were analysed using the chi-square techniques and were also interpreted. The study also show that the qualification of the teachers and the student performances are independent of the years under study. Recommendations has show that, in order for the students to perform well in English Language, the government have to improve on the quality of education.
