IMPROVING WORKERS WELFARE IN MANUFACTURING ORGANIZATION IN NIGERIA (A CASE STUDY OF BETA GLASS PLC. UGHELLI DELTA STATE)

This study is focus on improving workers welfare in manufacturing organisation in Nigeria. The purpose of this study include: to identify the cause of the low morale of workers in an organisation, to determine the strategies to be adopted to improve the morale of workers in an organisation, to examine effect of low morale of workers on their productivity. Research questions were presented, what are the strategies used for improving workers productivity? What are the ways of improving employees welfare in an organisation. In conducting this investigation, several materials were used between the researchers. These include textbooks on personnel management, eye witness report, routine or management reports, and human relations. The target population for this study was all workers in Beta Glass Plc Ughelli, the sample size of 25 members, these members were selected using structured sampling technique, according to their level. Questionnaire and personal interview were used to collect data. The questionnaire was distributed by hand to 25 members, simple percentage method was used to analyze data. Simple description was used findings include: That if workers are compensated for their effort in achieving the set-up goals, will they be motivated to work. That the provision of adequate job security materials the workers to improve the performance. The result of data analysis indicates that improving workers welfare in manufacturing organisation in Nigeria is a means of improving employees performance in an organisation, welfare helps in keeping the morale and motivation of employees high so as to retain the employees for larger duration. The researcher finally concluded that, management should provide reward to workers for good performance and creation for further improvement, promotion should be based on individual merits and relaxes to achievement and ability to perform. Attention should be given to the fairness of salaries and wages of the workers in the organisation.
