IMPLICATION OF NEGLECTING IMMUNIZATION AMONG WOMEN OF CHILD BEARING AGE IN OFUOMA COMMUNITY UGHELLI NORTH LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA, DELTA STATE

ABSTRACT/DESCRIPTION


The project research work is based on the implication of neglecting immunization among women of child bearing age in Ofuoma Community in Ughelli North Local Government Area, Delta State. To guide this study, 18 research questions were formulated and distributed to two hundred and ten respondents, while 150 questions were completed and retrieved. The descriptive survey design method was used to select a sample size of 150 respondents and a self structured questionnaire was used as instrument for data collection to elicit response from the respondents. Data collected were analyzed using simple percentage and frequency table. The result of our study demonstrated that the neonatal tetanus (NT) programme in Ofuoma community is effectively promoting immunity against tetanus in pregnant women. However, this study revealed that the tetanus immunity among women of child bearing age was still no sufficient as the age range of 15 to 49 years of child bearing age-women should be immunized against tetanus diphtheria disease. The result obtained revealed that women of child bearing age in Ofuoma community are aware of the implication of neglecting tetanus diphtheria immunization.
