ABSTRACT/DESCRIPTION
This study has attempted to examine the factors affecting the teaching of primary science in Isoko North Local Government area of Delta State. It has been able to discover that unqualified teacher to teach primary science in Isoko North and Nigeria school, in general. This deficiency in the following salient factors. In Isoko North, there are only a few formal sources of teaching available to primary science school. This problem is compounded by the imposition of stringent longing conditions as per-requisites qualified teaching by the few teaching institution available in the area, hence the primary science school resort to the formal sources as their main sources of teaching. Lack of suitable and well planned curriculum affects the teaching of primary sciences, discriminatory attitude f schools against the primary science schools and their inability to reach the Nigeria ministry of Education mainly for the inadequate teaching of the primary science schools. The result obtained shows that all the schools have not enough qualified science teachers. The problem of shortage of science teachers affects majority of the students in the teaching/ learning process. It is therefore recommended that the state ministry of education should be of urgency reintroduce the inspection of schools. This should be forth nightly exercise, in order to do this effectively, the personnel of the inspectorate division of the ministry should be enlarged so that the various schools will be adequately covered, this will help to check laxity and improve the effectiveness of teachers.
