EVALUATION OF ENERGY CONSUMPTION IN NIGERIA(A CASE STUDY OF SAPELE METROPOLITAN CITY)

This research work was carried out to evaluate the rate of electricity supply by (PHCN) Power Holding Company of Nigeria in Sapele Metropolitan City. Personal observational method of data collection was employed to obtain the relevant data on regular daily basis of power supply to the public. The data obtained was analyzed with one-way Analysis of Variance and Krusaka Wallis H-Test statistics at 5%, F5% (4.30) = 2.69, and (x^2 6,0.05)=12.6 are not significant which means that the rate of electricity supply is low in the metropolitan City of Sapele, and the uses of generator by the public is more as a source of power supply. It was recommended that government should take urgent steps to compete the on-going power transmission projected, some of which have been on the drawing board for several decades.
