DESIGN OF A SANITARY LANDFILL VIS-A-VIS ESTABLISHING AN EFFICIENT SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT BEST PRACTICES (A CASE STUDY OF OZORO URBAN TOWN IN ISOKO NORTH LGA DELTA STATE)

The purpose of this project is to establish an efficient solid waste management practice that will eliminate problems arising from solid waste generation and it should last for a very long period of time. Adequate data on the generation of solid waste in the study area is obtained through questionnaire and interviews. The rate of economic growth and urbanization increases the risk of pollution on the environment due to poor solid waste management approach has made it become a serious concern in the water table of Ozoro, Isoko North Local Government Area is quite low. It was discovered that the local government authorities whose responsibility was for waste collection and disposal within the area under consideration are inadequately equipped both in human and material resources. This project will deal with, examining and analyzing the existing waste management and to proffer a modern solution by a way of designing a landfill in Ozoro and the best waste disposal method in this modern time.
