COMPUTER BASED SKILLS NEEDED BY O.T.M GRADUATES IN MODERN OFFICES(A CASE STUDY OF DELTA STATE POLYTECHNIC, OZORO)
ABSTRACT/DESCRIPTION
The study investigated the information and communication technology soft skills needed by secretaries in offices. The study adopted a survey design. Four research questions were used to guide the study. The population of the study comprises of forty-five secretaries in Delta State Polytechnic, Ozoro. The entire population of the study was used; hence there was no sampling of secretaries. The study revealed that secretaries in automated offices needed word processing skills, spreadsheet skills, power point presentation skills as well as database management skills. It was recommended among others that institution should provide necessary instructional facilities like the one used in the automated office and trained personnel for the proper training of skilled manpower to meet the standards set by the employers of secretaries in automated office; again that word processing and other ICT packages in the OTM curriculum should be emphasized in order tom endow students with skills that will ensure enterprise success
