COMPUTER APPROACH FOR DATA SECURITY AND CONTROL SYSTEM IN DELTA STATE POLYTECHNIC OGWASHI-UKU

With the increase in usage of these telecommunication systems and growth in Internet technologies, there is also an increase in criminal activities such as cyber thieves and hackers gaining access to vital data of their victims and sometimes using the same data to steal from them, impersonate them or for terrorism purposes. In addition, the risk of transmitting data between two or more networked system without securing them is very high. When a sender transmits the data via a network without securing them, hackers intercept the transmitted data and use them for illicit purposes, and the receiver gets an adulterated message. Therefore, there is need to secure sensitive data in such a way that they will appear senseless or encrypted into formats that are seemingly unreadable or corrupted to unauthorized people and this process is called cryptography. The system was implemented on a remote communication system used for files transmission and information sharing. The system was developed using ASP.Net technology, Visual Basic.Net programming language, CSS along side with some DLL files. Microsoft SQL Server was used for the backend development. It was concluded that data security control should be treated with high priority as a little grip sensitive information by hackers can cause the organization great havoc.
