##1. NECO Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE)

##Types of NECO SSCE:
There are two main types of NECO SSCE:
a. NECO SSCE Internal:
Target Audience: This examination is for students who are in their final year (SS3) in recognized secondary schools across Nigeria.
Exam Period: It is usually conducted between June and July every year.
Subjects Offered: Students must register for a minimum of five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics, which are compulsory. Other subjects include Sciences, Arts, and Social Sciences.
Purpose: The SSCE Internal serves as an essential qualification for admission into Nigerian universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education.
b. NECO SSCE External (GCE):
Target Audience: This exam is designed for private candidates who are not in a formal school system or who wish to retake the SSCE to improve their grades.
Exam Period: It is usually conducted between November and December each year.
Subjects Offered: Similar to SSCE Internal, candidates must take at least five subjects, including English and Mathematics.
Purpose: It provides an opportunity for individuals who missed the SSCE Internal or need better grades for tertiary institution admissions.
##2. NECO Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE)
The NECO BECE is an examination designed for Junior Secondary School (JSS3) students to determine their readiness for Senior Secondary School (SS1).
Target Audience: Junior secondary school students (JSS3) in both public and private schools.
Exam Period: Conducted between May and June each year.
Subjects Offered: Includes English Studies, Mathematics, Basic Science, Basic Technology, Civic Education, Cultural and Creative Arts, Agricultural Science, Business Studies, Computer Science, and others.
Purpose: It serves as a transition examination from JSS3 to SS1.
In some states, it is used for placement into specialized secondary schools.
##3. NECO National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE)
The NECO NCEE is an entrance examination for primary school pupils who wish to gain admission into Federal Unity Colleges (Federal Government Secondary Schools) across Nigeria.
Target Audience: Primary six (or final year) pupils in public and private schools.
Exam Period: Conducted once a year, typically in April or May.
Subjects Tested: Mathematics and Basic Science, English Language and Social Studies, Quantitative and Verbal Reasoning and General Knowledge.
Purpose: Determines eligibility for admission into Federal Unity Schools in Nigeria.
##4. NECO Gifted Examination
The NECO Gifted Examination is a special test designed to identify highly intelligent primary school pupils for admission into the Federal Government Academy, Suleja, which is a school for gifted students.
Target Audience: Exceptionally talented pupils in Primary 6 who exhibit advanced intellectual abilities.
Exam Period: Conducted once a year, usually around May or June.
Subjects Tested: Includes Mathematics, English, General Paper, and other cognitive ability tests.
Purpose: To select the best-performing pupils for admission into the Federal Government Academy (FGA), Suleja.
To nurture and develop young talents for national development.
