The Chancellor of the University of Calabar is Aminu Ado Bayero (Emir of Kano). He was installed as the 6th Chancellor of UNICAL in May 2023. 

Brief Biography: Aminu Ado Bayero is the Emir of Kano, a traditional ruler with significant status in northern Nigeria. His appointment reflects UNICAL’s engagement with national leadership and traditional institutions. His investiture ceremony was held at the university’s International Conference Centre in Calabar, and he was charged with presiding over convocation ceremonies and representing the university in formal settings.
