Educational background includes MBBS, MSc, MD in Pharmacology and Toxicology from the University of Port Harcourt, among other credentials.

A professor of Pharmacology and Toxicology, he rose through academic and administrative ranks before being appointed VC. 

As VC, his role includes steering the university’s academic and administrative strategy, ensuring quality, facilitating research, infrastructure development and student service. While not the Chancellor, he is the principal figure responsible for daily institutional leadership.

##Accreditation and Recognition
Accreditation is a critical measure of academic quality and legitimacy. For UNIPORT:

In May 2025 the University announced that in the October/November 2024 accreditation exercise by the NUC, out of 22 programmes submitted, 21 earned full accreditation and one received interim status—effectively achieving a 100% success rate.

For example, a specific programme in Education (Guidance & Counselling) earned full accreditation with a score of 93.60%.
