This approval covered initially three faculties, eight departments and fifteen programmes, including Mass Communication; Political Science; Management Sciences; Sociology; Biolog­ical Sciences; Computer Sciences; Electrical & Electronics Engineering; and Computer Engineering.

By October 2024 the university publicly announced that the admission for the 2024/2025 session was open, signifying its readiness to welcome students. 

In June 2025 the institution disclosed that NUC approval had been received for fifteen programmes spanning fields such as Accounting, Computer Science, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Information Technology, Mass Communication, Microbiology, Political Science, Public Administration, Science Laboratory Technology, Sociology, Social Work, Criminology & Security Studies, International Relations & Diplomacy, Computer Engineering and Business Administration.

Brief Biography:
Born March 14, 1946 in Evbuobanosa (formerly Owa) in Orhionmwon Local Government Area of Edo State. 

He studied in the UK obtaining City & Guilds certificates in 1974, then theological training in Dallas, Texas (Certificate in Theology, 1981) and a Ph.D. (D.Min) from Christ for the Nations Institute, Dallas, in 1984.

He founded the Gospel Light International Ministries in 1988, has been involved in educational initiatives including Covenant Christian Academy, GLIM Bible College and the predecessor institution Lighthouse Polytechnic

During his tenure as President of PFN, he engaged national issues of education, ethics and religious dialogue. 

In his role at the university, Dr. Omobude blends spiritual leadership, educational vision and institutional oversight – aligning the institution’s direction with his values of entrepreneurship, innovation and societal transformation.
