Overview and History of Kings University, Osun State

 
Kings University, located in Odeomu, Osun State, Nigeria, is a private institution established in 2015 by the King's Ministries Trust, also known as Kingsway International Christian Centre (KICC), under the leadership of Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo.  The university was granted a provisional license by the Federal Government of Nigeria through the National Universities Commission (NUC) on March 4, 2015, and commenced academic activities on February 1, 2016.

The university's motto, "Raising Leaders, Transforming Nations," reflects its commitment to developing individuals who will make significant contributions to national and global development.

##Accreditation
Kings University is fully accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC) of Nigeria.  In addition to NUC accreditation, the university has received program-specific accreditations. For instance, the B.Sc. Accounting program has been accredited by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), enhancing the professional credibility of its graduates.

##Leadership
The Vice-Chancellor of Kings University is Professor Adenike Kuku, a distinguished Professor of Biochemistry specializing in protein science and engineering. She assumed office on January 1, 2020.  Professor Kuku has a rich academic background, having trained and served in various academic and administrative positions at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.

##Academic Structure
Kings University offers a range of undergraduate programs across various faculties. The university has recently expanded its academic offerings with the approval of new courses by the NUC, including Nursing Science, Public Health, and Medical Laboratory Science, all within the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences.

Situated on a 350-acre campus in Odeomu, Osun State, Kings University provides a conducive environment for learning and personal development.  The university is equipped with modern facilities, including well-furnished lecture halls, laboratories, a library, and residential accommodations, all designed to enhance the academic experience of its students.

Kings University has made significant strides in academic excellence and institutional development. In the 2021 NUC ranking, the university was ranked 31st among 202 universities in Nigeria, reflecting its commitment to quality education.
