##History
FUMHSF represents a significant development in Nigeria’s higher education in the health sciences. The institution was formally established in 2023 by the Federal Government as a specialised university focusing on medical and allied health sciences. 

The location in Funtua was deliberately chosen because it fills a gap: while Katsina State already houses multiple universities in other zones, the Funtua zone was previously without a federal or state university. Its siting thus responds to a regional equity concern. 

Among the early milestones: the Katsina State Government allocated land and a secondary school to serve as a temporary take-off site. 

Also, large funding allocations (on the order of billions of naira) were made to ensure infrastructure, renovation, and campus readiness ahead of the expected first admissions. 

By 2024 the campus development had begun in earnest: academic buildings, laboratories and a planned teaching hospital were included in the master plan. 

The goal was to admit students by September 2025.

His credentials include MB, BS; MSc (King’s College London); MD; FRC Surgeons Ireland; FWACS; FACS; FMCS. 

Before his appointment as VC of FUMHSF, he held senior clinical and academic posts, including leadership in neurosurgery and health-service delivery.
