Founded by His Excellency Judge Bola Ajibola under the auspices of the Islamic Mission for Africa (IMA), the university was conceived to provide a balanced education that integrates academic excellence with moral and spiritual development. ##History
Crescent University received its operating license from the National Universities Commission (NUC) in 2005 and commenced academic activities in December of the same year.  The establishment of the university was driven by the vision to create an institution that combines Western education with Islamic principles, thereby addressing the educational needs of the Muslim community in Nigeria and beyond.

Crescent University is fully accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC) of Nigeria.  In 2024, the university achieved 100% accreditation for all its 13 departments, reaffirming its commitment to maintaining high academic standards across all programs.
