Which state produces palm oil most in Nigeria? If you have been wanting to know the top 10 palm oil producing states in Nigeria, here is the list. According to a recent survey being carried out has shown that Nigeria produces at least 7% of the quantity of palm oil in the world, mind you, there are some states that made this possible in Nigeria but much attention isn’t drawn towards them. Right from the onset, Nigeria has been on the forefront of palm oil producers especially in Africa, but since crude oil was discovered much attention was placed on the crude oil mainly because of the quick money. The major palm oil producing states in Nigeria are Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Rivers, Abia, Edo, Ondo, Imo, Delta, Bayelsa, and Anambra states respectively based on the largest producers downwards. 1. Akwa Ibom State

The climatic condition here is also favorable and this really gives support to the production of these crops and the people of Akwa Ibom are actively performing well in the massive production of palm oil. Rivers State is the 6th most populous state in Nigeria, the major source of IGR for the state is also through crude oil, and aside crude oil there are other things that fetch the citizens money and indirectly generate income for the country too. Rivers state is also a top producer of palm oil in Nigeria. Palm oil production in Rivers state is particular to Etche and Ikwerre local government area, though the production is practiced in every corner of the state.

Abia state also produces cashew, plantain, cocoa, rubber and many more which has eally boosted the IGR of the state.

5. Edo State

This was done mainly before of the increase in the production of palm oil in the state in recent years.

6. Ondo State

Ondo state aside being a palm oil producer is also known to be producing agricultural produce like vegetables of all kinds, fruits, cassava, taro, coffee, maize, rice and yam.

7. Imo State

8. Delta State

9. Bayelsa State

10. Anambra State

Production of palm oil has been a good thing for Nigeria’s economy as the country relies mostly on crude oil, but thanks to the production of palm oil, this has been another source of income for the country whenever the price of crude falls. For those willing to start the business, palm oil production is a very lucrative business as there is a high demand for it and production so far has not been able to meet the demand. Aside from selling palm oil for food, it can be processed to make other useful things like cosmetics, toothpaste, shampoo, detergents, and also serves as a cleaning agent.
