Ekiti State, known for its academic culture and love of learning, is increasingly becoming a hub for technical and vocational education in Nigeria. Polytechnic institutions there provide hands-on and applied training in fields like engineering, science, business, and technology. They help bridge the gap between theory and industry, equipping graduates with practical skills to drive local and national development. In this blog post, we will talk about the polytechnics in Ekiti State: the Federal Polytechnic, the State polytechnics, and the Private polytechnics in the state, with short descriptions of each. ##Federal Polytechnics 1. Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti: This is the federal polytechnic in Ekiti State, established in 1977. It offers a wide range of National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) programs. The school is recognized for its varied academic structure including engineering, business studies, environmental studies, applied sciences and management. Its federal status grants broader resources and regulatory oversight. ##State Polytechnics 2. Ekiti State Polytechnic, Isan-Ekiti: Formerly known as the Ekiti State College of Agriculture and Technology, this polytechnic is a state institution officially converted in 2021. It operates under the state government and runs ND and HND programs. The polytechnic focuses on meeting local needs through courses in agriculture, applied sciences, engineering technology, and management fields. ##Private Polytechnics 3. Ajayi Polytechnic, Ikere-Ekiti: A private polytechnic established in 2017. It offers technical, business, and applied science courses, designed to give students alternative options to government-owned institutions. As a private set-up, it usually has flexibility in course delivery while maintaining required accreditation standards. 4. Crown Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti: This is another private polytechnic in Ekiti State, established in 2008. Located in Ado-Ekiti, it offers National Diploma (ND) programs across different disciplines. It provides additional capacity in the state for students seeking private polytechnic education.
