Nsit Ibom is one of the council areas situated in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. It shares borders with neighboring local government regions including Ibesikpo Asutan, Etinan, Nsit Ubium, and Uyo. The residents predominantly belong to the Ibibio ethnic group.
According to the national census conducted in 2006, the population of Nsit Ibom consisted of 57,750 men and 50,861 women, giving a combined total of 108,611 inhabitants.
##Historical Overview
In September 1991, the current-day Nsit Ibom Local Government Area was officially created, leaving behind Nsit Ubium, which now comprises the clans of Nsit and Ubium. The region includes 65 officially acknowledged villages along with several other smaller, recognized settlements.

These communities are grouped under two major sub-lineages: Asanga and Mbiaso. The Akwa Ibom State College of Education (AKSCOE) is situated in Afaha Nsit, part of the Mbiaso area. One prominent figure from this region was the late Bishop D. J. Umondak, a leader in the Christ Holy Sanctified Church and the founder of Nsit Peoples Grammar School in Afaha Offiong.
The administrative headquarters of Nsit Ibom is located in Afaha Offiong.

Nsit Ibom has recently seen the emergence of a more youth-driven and affluent political class focused on regional progress. The Local Government Chairman, Elder Joshua, has collaborated with local communities to advance infrastructure and unify the political base under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). Development efforts are being driven from the grassroots, aiming to ensure democratic benefits reach underprivileged citizens.
Currently, Deaconess Otobong Sunny Aaron holds the position of Transition Committee Chairperson.
