Nkpa is a modest community located within the Bende Local Government Area of Abia State, Nigeria. It gained status as a self-governing entity in 1983. The settlement comprises multiple smaller hamlets and neighborhoods.
##Physical Setting
The town can be reached via routes passing through Uzuakoli and Umuahia. A circular roadway links Nkpa with nearby communities Lohum and Lodu. However, as of 2016, many of the roads in the vicinity were reported to be in disrepair, though some infrastructure improvements were in the pipeline.
##Local Economy
The economic backbone of Nkpa is farming. The region is known for its abundance of oil palm groves, and crops like cassava are staples among the residents. To support local enterprise and economic activity, the town operates a microfinance bank.
