Federal University, Dutse, Jigawa State admission requirement, tuition fees and cut off mark

 
##Admission Requirements
For UTME (first-time university entrants):

You must have at least five (5) credit passes in your Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) or equivalent (WAEC, NECO) in not more than two sittings. The credits must include English Language and Mathematics. 

You must have chosen FUD as your first choice in the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) UTME. 

You must meet the required UTME minimum score (see cut-off section below).

You must register for the Post-UTME/Direct Entry online screening exercise of FUD. 

For your specific course, you may need subject combinations (for example, courses like Business Administration will require English, Mathematics, Commerce, Economics). 

##For Direct Entry (DE) applicants:
If you’re applying by Direct Entry (i.e., you hold NCE, ND, IJMB or A-Level), you must meet the ‘O’ Level requirement as above (including English and Maths), plus the required advanced qualification (e.g., ND with lower credit, NCE, IJMB with required points). 

##Tuition / School Fees
FUD’s fees vary depending on whether you’re a fresh student or returning, department, and whether you are an international student.

For the 2023/2024 academic session, one source says: “As a federal university, FUD does not charge any tuition fees for new Nigerian students across all programmes except Medicine and Surgery. Only international students pay tuition; for Medicine & Surgery the tuition for new students was ?50,000 per session.” 

Other compulsory “other fees” for freshers (registration, departmental dues, library, orientation etc.) were listed at about ?112,000 for most programmes in one breakdown. 

For the 2024/2025 session one site reports a figure for freshers of approximately ?40,000 for some programmes; returning students around ?79,000-?84,000. 

So: in summary: If you’re a Nigerian student (fresh) probably you’ll pay the “other fees” plus minimal tuition; but if you’re in a more expensive programme (Medicine) or are a foreign student, you’ll pay more.

##Cut-Off Mark
These are the minimum scores or benchmarks you must hit to be eligible (and to have a chance) at FUD.

The general UTME minimum score for FUD in recent sessions has been set at 160 marks for many programmes. 

Some sources say the general benchmark is 150 (for 2024/2025) for many programmes. 

Importantly: each department/course has its own “departmental cut-off mark” which can be higher than the minimum general score. For example:

For the 2025/2026 session, sources show:

Medicine & Surgery: ~ 220 marks. 

Computer Science, Cyber Security, Software Engineering: ~ 180 marks. 

Agriculture courses: ~ 160-170 marks. 

Other less competitive courses: ~ 150-160 marks. 

Bottom line: meeting the minimum general cut-off doesn’t guarantee admission — for competitive courses you’ll need higher scores, plus you’ll still need to satisfy O-Level, subject combination and Post-UTME screening.
