BAUK was among the new private universities approved in the wave of licence-grants by the National Universities Commission (NUC) in Nigeria. According to official listing documentation, BAUK was established in 2022. 

An article from May 2022 noted that Senator Datti Baba-Ahmed had secured the licence to establish the university in Kano. 

By 2024/2025 the university had begun admissions, released admission forms for the 2024-2025 session, and issued a provisional admission list for 2025/2026.

The arrival of its final licence to operate, as announced in August 2025, marked a key milestone signalling full credibility

Located along Sharada Express Road, Kano State, BAUK’s campus occupies industrial-estate adjacency, which offers room for growth and infrastructure development.
